How to use this calculator

  1. Enter your usual start and finish times.
  2. Enter the unpaid break you take on a typical day.
  3. Enter how many days a week you work — half days are allowed.
  4. Use the weekly figure to compare against your contracted hours.

How the calculation works

  • Daily worked minutes are the gap between start and finish, less the unpaid break.
  • Weekly hours multiply the daily figure by the number of days worked.
  • The monthly average uses 52 weeks ÷ 12 months, which is the standard way UK payroll averages a month.

Things to keep in mind

  • The yearly figure assumes 52 worked weeks and does not deduct annual leave or bank holidays.
  • Irregular rotas are better calculated shift by shift with the shift hours calculator.

How many hours a month is a 37.5 hour week?
